Forest Green Rovers Women oversaw a five-game pre-season beginning with a late change of opponents on the final weekend of July and ending with a local away trip to Royal Wootton Bassett.

Rovers’ original opponents were forced to pull out only days before July 28 which presented Stockwood Wanderers an opportunity to step in and host our women, where they won 8-0 against the side in the league below. 

Welsh Premier side Aberystwyth Town were our next opponents at Hartpury. 

Goals from Carys Lowley, Tori Taylor, Martha Campbell and Estelle Randall alongside an own goal helped the women’s side to a 5-0 win.

A week later, Rovers faced Keynsham in Bristol where their clean sheet run came to an end with the final kick of the game in tough 27 degree heat.

Erin Williams, Natasha Kerr, Taylor and a double from Rhian Robbins made the scoreline 5-1.

Our toughest fixture of pre-season came when we hosted Welsh Premier, The New Saints. 

Their visit to Hartpury was our only defeat of our pre-season campaign when we were beaten 6-1 with Georgia Vandries scoring our only goal of the game.

Finally we took the short trip to Swindon where we beat Wootton Bassett 4-1 with goals coming from Taylor, Vandries, Louise Hiett and Annie Martin.

We thank all of our opponents for the challenges we faced during pre-season and we wish them all the best going forward in their respective divisions.
