We were delighted to welcome a party from De Montfort University, Leicester City Football Club and Leicester City in the Community to FGR last week. The groups took up an Eco tour and attended our home match against Fleetwood Town.
Mark Charlton, Associate Director of Sustainable Development Goal Impact, Net Zero and Climate Action Research Theme Director And Policy Commission (POPP 3054) Module Leader brought a party of enthusiastic international students, including those from Germany and Peru.
Sarah Urquhart, Head of FGR Community, said: “It’s always a pleasure to welcome other professionals, academics and peers to FGR. We enjoy showcasing our environmental credentials and learning from others as well.
"There is a huge opportunity for us all to work collaboratively to tackle the UN Sustainability Goals and embed sustainable change in our clubs, communities and educational establishments."
Dr Alex Evans, Environmental Sustainability Coordinator for Leicester City in the Community, is embedding sustainability in Leicestershire and he had to say: “We just wanted to say a massive thank you to Forest Green for having us over on Tuesday for the tour of the stadium and the complimentary tickets.
"I was blown away by not only the systematic approach to sustainability across the club, but also by how much you are achieving with the local community – the ambassador programme is absolutely fantastic. We don’t quite have the green credentials as FGR yet, but we’re making a start."
