FGR Head Of Community Update

June 20th 2026Richard Branigan

Since being appointed in December, it's been a privilege to lead such a dedicated team and serve our community.

I've quickly come to recognise the value of our existing programmes, and the importance of keeping them running strong for those who rely on them.

At the same time, I'm excited by the opportunities ahead to grow and impact more people over the coming years.

A huge thanks to our community, participants, and local organisations for your ongoing support, engagement and feedback; all of it shapes and sustains our work.

Paragraph Break

As I look ahead to the upcoming season, FGR Community continues to build on a strong foundation of inclusive, engaging, and impactful provision for all ages and abilities, both on and off the football pitch.

Our commitment to using football as a force for good remains at the heart of everything we do, and we are excited to share a number of developments and opportunities on the horizon.

Paragraph Break

I would like to begin by extending our sincere thanks to Bristol Memorial Woodland and Grundon for their continued support.

Their backing plays a vital role in helping us deliver our mission and expand our reach within the community.

Paragraph Break

There are several exciting ways for individuals to get involved in football through FGR Community.

We are proud to now be delivering FA disability programmes, further strengthening our already fantastic Disability Sport offer.

These sessions are designed to provide inclusive, accessible opportunities for participants of all abilities, ensuring everyone can enjoy the game and feel part of a team environment.

Participants and families are encouraged to look out for details on how to access our FA Comets sessions and FA Disability Recreational sessions, both of which provide fun, structured, and supportive football experiences.

Paragraph Break

We are also pleased to have expanded our delivery to include the FA Just Play programme for both 16+ and 18+ participants.

These sessions are open to players of all standards, removing barriers to entry and offering a relaxed and enjoyable way to stay active, meet new people, and play the game.

Paragraph Break

Looking ahead to September, we are particularly excited to launch our first Girls Development Centre.

This marks a significant step forward in expanding our girls-only provision and strengthening the pathway for female players.

The centre will support player development at all levels, helping to bridge the gap from grassroots football through to the FGR Emerging Talent Centre, creating a clear and inspiring route for aspiring players.

Paragraph Break

This is just the beginning, and there will be many more exciting developments unveiled throughout the season.

We remain committed to growing participation, enhancing opportunities, and ensuring that everyone in our community has a place in the game.
