With the new season on the horizon, FGR Women will return to The New Lawn on Saturday 14th September, following the men’s game against Wealdstone FC.
The women will host newly-promoted AEK Boco (Bristol), in their first home fixture of the new campaign. Kick-off for this league fixture will be 5.45pm.
All fans attending the men’s game will be permitted to stay on site, with the Candriam East stand remaining open for this Women’s fixture.
We are pleased to confirm this game will be free entry for all fans, and is part of our wider strategy of promoting women’s and girl’s football in the local area.
Our women’s side have fond memories of playing at The New Lawn, beating eventual league winners Bristol Rovers 2-1 in a thrilling contest last September.
Any fans wishing to attend just the women’s game should enter the stadium through the main reception, and are advised to arrive between 5.30pm and 5.45pm. Supporters can arrive before 5.30pm but please note that the roads are likely to be busy with traffic.
Upon confirmation of the fixture CEO Dane Vince commented: “I am really pleased that we have a FGR Women’s game here at The New Lawn; a big thanks to all those involved behind the scenes that have helped to make this happen. This is a great opportunity for supporters to watch what promises to be an exciting Women’s South West Regional Womens Football League game; and the Carol Embrey will be open for all supporters."
The first half of our women’s league fixtures have recently been released (up until Christmas). Home games will be played at Hartpury University (just north of Gloucester), with the traditional 2.00pm Sunday KO times. Entry for these games is also free, with plenty of free parking on site and an onsite cafe and coffee shop as well.
