FGR & Reflo

Landmark partnership for sustainable team wear

May 13th 2025FGR Media

Forest Green Rovers, widely recognised as the most sustainable football club in the world, has announced a pioneering four-year partnership with Reflo, the world’s most sustainable sportswear brand. As the club’s Official Teamwear Partner, Reflo will manufacture Forest Green Rovers’ playing kits and technical wear for the upcoming season, further reinforcing the club’s commitment to sustainability and innovation.

The new agreement will see Reflo supply Forest Green Rovers with training and travel wear as well as producing all of their playing kits. Already well known for their standout statements and bold designs, the kits provided by Reflo will add another level of ambition to the team’s sustainability mission, with all the apparel being crafted from recycled materials and even pieces such as the playing shirt itself, that is specifically designed for full recyclability through Reflo’s innovative Reloop technology. These kits will set a new benchmark for responsible performance wear, ensuring that players and fans alike can wear their team’s colours with pride and purpose. Notably, this will be the world's first fibre-to-fibre mechanically recyclable football shirt, marking a revolutionary step in sustainable sportswear.

The collaboration builds on Forest Green Rovers’ long-standing mission to integrate environmental responsibility into every aspect of the club, doing things Another Way. From vegan matchday menus to renewable energy and transport initiatives, FGR has consistently led the way in sustainable football. By partnering with Reflo, the club is taking yet another decisive step towards making football a greener game.

Dale Vince, Chairman of Forest Green Rovers, commented: “In the last few years, at FGR, we’ve pioneered the use of different (better) materials in our first team shirts, like bamboo and even coffee grounds. The material matters.  But what happens to the shirt at the end of its life matters as well and until now it’s been hard to square the circle - with Reflo we get the chance to create that circle, from raw material to kit back to raw material - a closed loop economy in a football shirt - pretty fabulous..:). And right up our street - which is named Another Way of course.”

At the core of this partnership is Reflo’s pioneering Reloop technology, a fully circular solution that means every element of the kit supplied is made from recycled materials with elements that showcase Reloop technology also meaning it is designed to be fully recyclable at the end of its lifecycle, preventing unnecessary waste and creating a more sustainable solution that closes the loop on fabric waste. Unlike other chemically recycled solutions that negatively impact the environment, Reloop is a fully circular mechanical solution designed to prevent teamwear from ending up in landfill.

Rory MacFadyen, Co-Founder of Reflo, said: "Since day one, Reflo’s mission has been to change the sportswear industry, for good. With 92 million tonnes of fabric waste ending up in landfill each year, we knew we had to find a better way. That’s why we developed Reloop, a fully circular, fibre-to-fibre recycling system that ensures football shirts don’t become waste at the end of their life but are remanufactured into new products.

Partnering with Forest Green Rovers, a club that truly embodies sustainability in sport, is a landmark moment for us. Together, we are making history with the world’s first fibre-to-fibre mechanically recyclable football shirt. These kits aren’t just made from recycled materials, they’re designed to be recycled again, setting a new standard for responsible performancewear. Sustainability and high performance can go hand in hand, and this partnership proves it.”

Forest Green Rovers 2025/26 kits will be revealed in the summer and available to purchase exclusively from the club’s official online store: https://www.fgr.co.uk/shop/.
