April 30th 2023FGR Media

Duncan Ferguson praised the FGR supporters following the 3-0 defeat to Oxford United on Saturday. Plenty of Rovers fans stayed behind for the lap of appreciation after the loss to the Yellows.

"The fans have recognised how hard we've all been working," said Ferguson. "We have to thank them for their loyal support, they love the club.

"It's been a tough season for everybody and it's all about regrouping. We've got one game to go. Seeing all the fans remain after the game when we've lost 3-0 is great. They've been very supportive."

In their final home game of the season, Rovers fell to defeat with goals from Kyle Joseph, Tyler Goodrham and Billy Bodin securing three points for Oxford. It was a familiar story for Ferguson's side, who were behind within 10 minutes and were then made to pay for a slow start to the second period.

Paragraph Break

"The players are working really hard, but we are maybe lacking a bit of quality," he said. They've scored two beauties today. We had a chance to make it 1-1, we never took it and then they've scored two beauties. It was a tough afternoon.

"We struggled to get pressure on the ball and the conditions played a big part in that. They showed real quality in the second half, putting the game to bed.

"We looked more threatening with two strikers and took a few more gambles in the second half. They showed quality and we never really had that today.

"It's tough because we've been dead and buried for a few weeks and we're coming up against teams who are fighting for their lives. We have to keep fighting and try to be better.

"The players are giving all the effort, but we're just falling short."
