Forest Green secured safe passage to the First Round of the Emirates FA Cup with a 4-1 win away at Worthing on Monday evening.

Goals from Harry Whitwell, Tom Knowles, Harvey Bunker, and Jayden Clarke set-up a mouth-watering tie against Luton Town at Kenilworth Road in Round One.

Worthing started brightly and forced some early pressure - ex-Rovers man Teddy Jenks struck an effort towards goal but it deflected away from danger.

Harry Whitwell had the first shot on target after he headed an effort low with home goalkeeper Seb Stacey down to save.

He wasn't to be denied a few minutes later as he strode onto a ball in behind from Tom Knowles via a quick free-kick - he composed himself and slotted into the bottom corner inside the penalty area.

Knowles got on the scoresheet soon after, Jili Buyabu's driving run took Rovers up the pitch before Knowles found a yard of space inside the penalty area to slide home.

Buyabu had a fizzing drive from distance beaten away by Stacey with James Balagizi's follow-up deflected around the post.

Worthing got one back just before the break, Jenks swept home right-footed from the edge of the penalty area.

Half-time: Worthing 1-2 Forest Green

Worthing had the best opening in the early exchanges of the second half, Nathan Odokonyero looked to slide home from close range but Luke McNicholas scrambled the ball clear.

Knowles picked out the run of substitute Jayden Clarke but he struck over the crossbar.

Rovers got the crucial next goal as Clarke fed Bunker on the edge of the penalty area and he struck home via the upright.

Clarke made it four from the penalty spot after he was upended in the area, he dusted himself down and sent Worthing 'keeper Stacey the wrong way.
