You may have noticed that in our special eight-page pullout in our matchday programme that our fantastic Ambassadors Scheme has two pages dedicated to it.
Our young fans, who champion the club at schools across Gloucestershire, quiz the players, answer questions themselves and even write match reports.
Unfortunately, not all the fantastic reports can make it into the programme, so Ambassador's Corner is a chance to show off their talents and give a kid's eye view of our FA Cup match with Carlisle United...
I thought this was going to be an easy game for FGR. It was not to be the case.
After 11 minutes, the Carlisle goalkeeper Adam Collin made a blunder that gave Aaron Collins an easy chance to make it 1-0.
I thought we would score 5 or 6 more but FGR never really got going.
In the 40th minute, Carlisle’s Nathan Thomas cut in and scored an excellent goal against the run of play.
FGR should have been ahead just before half time, when Matty Stevens’ effort was cleared off the line.
In the second half it was all FGR. Despite having a lot of the ball, we could not find the net.
Carlisle went ahead in the 76th minute when Thomas scored. Two minutes later FGR equalised through an own goal.
Stevens found himself unmarked in the box just before full time, but he could only direct his free header straight at the Carlisle keeper.
FGR will be disappointed not to have won the match. We had more of the ball, and more chances. Let’s hope we can win on Tuesday in the replay, and we get a big club at The New Lawn in the third round.
