Burchnall on Port Vale test

Gaffer calls for players to be brave against Valiants

December 31st 2022FGR Media

Ian Burchnall has called upon his side to show character in their New Year's Day clash with Port Vale.

Rovers fell to a 2-1 defeat against Burton Albion on Thursday evening - their third consecutive loss in League One.

However, they have the chance to bounce back against the Valiants in our first game of 2023. Burchnall has asked his players to show bravery when Darrell Clarke's side come to Nailsworth.

Paragraph Break

"We really need to show some character within the group now," said Burchnall.

"Playing in front of our own fans again, we need to step up. We're going find out a bit about ourselves now.

"When the chips are down, you learn things about yourselves. The players will certainly be learning more things about themselves now than they did last year.

"We're going to see who's got character and who's brave enough to step out and perform."
