Forest Green Rovers are delighted to announce the loan signing of Ashqar Ahmed from Reading until the end of the season.

The 18-year-old right-back has made 18 appearances so far this season, nine of which have come in League One for the Royals. Ashqar has progressed through the academy ranks at Reading, signing his first professional contract in July 2025. Prior to that, he made seven appearances in the Premier League U18S during the 2023/24 season.

It was in the 2024/25 campaign that the young defender made his first senior appearance for Reading, featuring in the EFL Trophy against West Ham United U21S, and then went on to play another four times in the competition.

He then went on to make his EFL debut with a 15-minute substitute appearance against Stevenage in November 2024, before making a handful of further cameo appearances heading into the start of 2025.
