As the 2024/25 season comes to a close, it’s time to take a look at Forest Green Rovers’ impressive campaign in numbers.
It was a season that saw some personal best season’s as well as manager Steve Cotterill taking charge of his 1,000th game in management.
SEASON REVIEW - STATS
Rovers played out 56 games across all competitions this campaign.
These 56 games came across the National League (46), FA Cup (2), FA Trophy (3), National League Cup (4) and one National League Play-off semi-final.
Despite narrowly missing out on a chance of promotion straight back to the Football League via the playoffs, Rovers impressive campaign ensured a third-placed finish.
Rovers spent 47.8% (22 game weeks) of the season in third and also spent 93.5% of their season within the play-off and promotion places.
The club also picked up an impressive 83 points from a possible 138 available - a 41-point increase on last season’s tally of 42 points.
Rovers went on to earn 25 wins from 56 games in all competitions - drawing 18 and losing just 13 games.
GOALS AND WHERE THEY CAME FROM
Rovers bagged an impressive 84 goals in 56 games, averaging 1.5 goals a game whilst conceding 59 goals in all competitions.
Christian Doidge topped the scoring charts with 15 goals in 50 appearances with Charlie McCann, on 11 goals and Kyle McAllister, with 10, closely following.
McAllister and Doidge also reached 20 goal involvements each in all competitions.
Our midfield produced an incredible season contributing to 93% of all goals scored this season with 78 goal involvements, scoring 41 and assisting 37.
Four Rovers players enjoyed personal best season’s in front of goal with centre-back Ryan Inniss netting six times, full-back Jamie Robson scoring four goals, and midfielders Charlie McCann and Harvey Bunker found the net 11 and six times respectively.
FORTY-SIX GAMES
Two players in the Rovers squad featured in every single National League fixture during the campaign.
Left-back, Robson and midfielder Adam May both started all 46 National League matches - a magnificent achievement.
Robson played out 4,104 minutes for Rovers in the league scoring four goals and picked up four assists whilst May managed 4,098 minutes in the league netting three times whilst chipping in with three assists.
KEEPING THEM OUT
Away from scoring goals, Rovers were fairly resolute defensively conceding just 59 goals in 56 games.
During the season, Rovers managed to keep 19 clean sheets which were all shared out by four goalkeepers across the campaign.
Loanee Jed Ward started the campaign in goal and went on to keep 12 clean sheets in 31 appearances.
Fabian Mrozek kept three clean sheets before suffering an injury that saw Ted Cann come into the side and keep two clean sheets.
Jamie Searle also managed two clean sheets as Rovers went on to better last season’s tally (12) with seven extra clean sheets.
