Forest Green welcomed the 2018/19 FGR Ambassadors to The New Lawn last night, for a special event to look ahead to the new season.
Ambassadors promote FGR in their schools by talking about the club, organising a FGR noticeboard and wearing the shirt with pride.
They also write match reports, interview the players and help out on match days by volunteering as ball boys/girls and selling programmes and merchandise to fans.
Eighty-one youngsters representing 60 schools have signed up to be Ambassadors for the coming season, with Grundon conituing their support and sponsoring the section of the programme.
They will all sign a commitment in promote the club and its values in their schools and local communities. In return the club provides each ambassador with a complimentary season ticket, an FGR shirt and the opportunity to parade on the pitch with the players once during the season.
Phil Butterworth, FGR vice-chairman, said: “The FGR ambassador scheme has been integral to boosting the family atmosphere on match days. You would struggle to find another club with such a high percentage of children in not only in attendance, but avidly cheering their heroes on the pitch.
“The Carol Embrey suite at The New Lawn was full on Thursday night with Forest Green’s latest cohort of ambassadors. They all came with their parents to learn about their role and how to be an effective advocate for the club and what it stands for."
