Jamille Matt joined the FGR 100 Club in Saturday's 2-0 win over South Shields. To celebrate him reaching the landmark, here's a look at five of Jamma's best FGR moments so far.
Just five games into his Forest Green career, Matt bagged a hat-trick in a 4-1 win over Scunthorpe United. The week before, he scored his first goal for FGR in a 1-1 draw against Walsall.
Matt bundled home his first goal of the game at Glanford Park in the 23rd minute, before he doubled his side’s tally after nodding home Nicky Cadden’s corner. Jamma completed the Matt-trick seven minutes from time when he converted Ebou Adams’ cutback.
Matt played the majority of his first season at the club in front of no fans. With games behind-closed-doors, Jamma only played a handful of matches with the Rovers faithful in attendance.
His first goal in front of the Rovers fans was in a 2-0 win over Cambridge United. Around 700 FGR supporters were there to watch Matt calmly slot home a penalty in front of the South Stand.
The striker helped Rovers record a statement victory over Bristol Rovers last November. Matt scored a goal in either half as FGR reached the 40-point mark after just 18 games.
After just 20 minutes, Matt latched onto a Ben Stevenson through ball before confidently dispatching the ball past James Belshaw. FGR went down to 10 men early in the second period after Udoka Godwin-Malife was given his marching orders, but that didn’t stop Rovers.
The Green Army were awarded a penalty in the 77th minute - and Matt made no mistake from the spot.
Jamma more than played his part in arguably Forest Green’s best-ever Football League win - a 4-0 triumph at Tranmere Rovers in January. Matt scored the second goal as FGR silenced Prenton Park.
In a scintillating attacking display, the 33-year-old scored just three minutes before half time to double Rovers’ lead following Matty Stevens’ opener. He cupped his ears in front of the Tranmere fans in the Kop, as FGR moved 10 points clear at the top of League Two.
Forest Green moved to within just a point of promotion to League One following a 2-0 win against Oldham Athletic on Easter Monday. Matt scored the second goal in the comfortable victory against the Latics.
Regan Hendry gave Rovers the lead with a deflected shot that looped over Oldham goalkeeper Danny Rogers. Matt bagged his 18th league goal of the campaign when he headed home Cadden’s cross to double Forest Green’s advantage on the stroke of half time.
It left Rovers needing just a point to secure promotion - and secure it they did in their very next game away at Bristol Rovers.
