Rovers drew their third game of the season as they surrendered a two goal lead against Port Vale, drawing 2-2 at Vale Park.

Boss Ian Burchnall made four changes from the defeat at Peterborough as Harry Boyes made his first start whilst Jordan Moore-Taylor, Connor Wickham and Myles Peart-Harris returned to the starting XI.

It was the hosts who came closest inside the opening 10 minutes as Luke McGee was called into action when Gavin Massey's cross found the head of Ellis Harrison in the area.

But Rovers would forage ahead just five minutes later as Peart-Harris had his first Forest Green goal.

Corey O'Keeffe harried and won a free-kick on the edge of the Vale box which Boyes curled onto the head of the Brentford loanee, who glanced Rovers in front.

Just before the half hour mark Rovers gave away the ball in the midfield and nearly their lead - but Christian Marques did brilliantly to get back and stop James Wilson just as he took aim.

And that proved to be important on 36 minutes when Baily Cargill met an O'Keeffe free-kick, powering his header beyond the helpless Jack Stevens to make it two-nil at the break.

Paragraph Break

Into the second half and Rovers did well early on to nullify any Valiants threat restricting them to a wayward Dennis Politic effort from range.

McGee was brought into action on 67 minutes however when he got down well to beat away substitute Daniel Butterworth's low drive.

The hosts got one back just over 10 minutes from time when another of the subs Mipo Odubeko volleyed home to set up a tense finish.

And the hosts would be given a chance to level from the spot when Armani Little was penalised for handball in the area.

Harrison stepped up and rifled home the equaliser to make it 2-2 with just three minutes of normal time remaining.

Both sides had chances to snatch the three points late in the day but it would end 2-2 as Rovers took a point back to Nailsworth.
