Rovers secured all three points against Harrogate Town with a 2-1 victory at the innocent New Lawn.

Mark Cooper decided to make two changes from Tuesday's late draw with Morecambe. Lewis Thomas earned back the number one shirt, while Nicky Cadden replaced Scott Wagstaff - who started from the bench.

Rovers started the game the brighter of the two sides - and were inches away from taking the lead courtesy of Baily Cargill. Sneaking in at the back post and picking up a pass across the penalty area, James Belshaw narrowed down the angle and forced the FGR defender to fire wide.

With twenty minutes on the clock, Cooper's charges raced into the lead. After Dom Bernard was fouled midway through the Town half, Cadden sent in a free-kick into a dangerous area - and skipper Chris Stokes was on hand to volley home the tenth goal of his Rovers career.

Simon Weaver's side failed to create any clear-cut opportunities in the first-half, but would have been frustrated not to score against the run of play before the break. Josh McPake was unchallenged in the area - but the Rangers loanee failed to find the target from close range.

The home side really started to get into the grove and duly doubled their advantage just five minutes into the second half. The Rovers frontline were causing problems to the Harrogate defence - and after finding a gap, Kane Wilson raced through on goal to place the ball calmly into the back of the net.

Despite their best efforts, the visitors struggled to forge an opening - and were very nearly punished on the counter-attack. Collins spread the ball across to Bailey in the penalty area - and under pressure, the Birmingham loanee saw his attempt blocked.

Harrogate pulled a goal back deep into added time. Jay Williams won the header inside the penalty area and put the visitors back into some contention.

Rovers looked more and more likely to see out the victory - but were reduced to ten men within the closing stages of injury time. Elliott Whitehouse was deemed to have played a role in a fracas - and was awarded a second yellow card for his involvement.
