Rovers fell to defeat in their final home game of the season, with Harrogate securing a 3-1 win and the points at the Fully Charged New Lawn.
Second half goals from Jack Diamond and Lloyd Kerry won the Yorkshire based side the match after a penalty a piece in the first period from Jack Muldoon and Jamille Matt left the scores level at half-time.
The visitors opened the scoring against the run of play when Muldoon dispatched a penalty into the bottom right-hand corner after Diamond was brought down by Wilson in the area.
Rovers equalised with a penalty of their own which was swept home by captain Matt in injury time of the first half, after Wilson was fouled by Town’s captain Warren Burrell.
Diamond restored Harrogate’s lead moments after the restart when his sweetly struck volley from outside the area nestled into the bottom corner.
Substitute Kerry made sure of the three points for the visitors with 20 minutes remaining, slotting the ball past Luke McGee when the ball bounced into his path.
FGR started on the front foot from the off and could have gone in front inside two minutes, but Baily Cargill saw his strong header from a Nicky Cadden Corner flash just over the bar.
Rob Edwards’ side somehow didn’t score in the 27th minute after multiple chances came close to crossing the line in a goal mouth scramble before Cracknell eventually held onto the final effort.
Rovers’ fans thought they had seen their side take the lead in the 33rd minute, but Cadden’s sweetly timed volley had in fact hit the side netting, keeping the scores level.
FGR came extremely close to pulling a goal back through Josh march shortly after the Yorkshire sides third, but he saw his close rang effort blocked on the line.
The result leaves Rovers one point behind Exeter City going into the final day.
