An unchanged Rovers side came into this game on the back of a hard-fought point away against Charlton Athletic in midweek.

The first big chance of the game fell to the visitors, as Love weaved through the Rovers defence, but McGee comfortably saved, resulting in a Morecambe corner.

Peart-Harris picked the ball up in his own half and charged towards the Morecambe defence and he managed to pick out Wickham on the left-hand-side but nobody was on the end of his cross which fizzed across the goalmouth.

Rovers came close again as O’Keeffe’s corner found Wickham at the back post, but his header went over the bar.

The visitors came close to breaking the deadlock in the 19th minute when striker Kieran Phillips glided past McGee and looked set to score into the empty net but Moore-Taylor was there to unbelievably ricochet the ball onto the bar.

An incident which saw Donald Love barge Corey O’Keeffe into the home fans watching in the East Stand resulted in a scuffle between players from both sides. A Morecambe throw-in was rewarded much to the anger of the home support.

On the 30 minute mark, Rovers took the lead with a wonderful strike from Wickham, the frontman picked the ball up just outside the 18-yard-box and superbly lofted the ball over Connor Ripley in the Morecambe net.

5 minutes before the interval, Rawson forced an acrobatic save from McGee as he unorthodoxly flicked the ball towards the goal resulting in a corner for the visitors.

Just before the half-time interval, in the 44th minute, Morecambe equalised when Phillip chopped and turned through the Rovers defence and chipped the ball over McGee.

In the 51st minute Rovers first chance of the half came when Hendry lifted a beautiful ball over the Morecambe back-line, finding Bernard at the back post but his header was diverted over the bar by Ripley.

At the end of an uninspiring second half by both sides, Weir’s inswinging free kick found Rawson whose effort was bundled into the back of the Rovers goal, sealing victory for Morecambe and the 112 travelling fans.
