The Salops led their way to victory in a fiery affair with Forest Green, with Shrewsbury Town coming out on top winning 0-2.
It took just 10 minutes for Shrewsbury to open the scoring as a neat cross from Jordan Shipley was met at the back post and poked in by Rekeil Pyke.
Unfortunately, five minutes later the Forest Green captain had a nasty collision with Luke McGee which meant he had to be brought off which had a huge impact on the game.
A bit later on, Shrewsbury thought they had a second but as Matthew Pennington was in an offside position his tap in at the back post was chalked off which meant it stayed 0-1.
Soon after that Forest Green nearly pulled it level, however some heroic defending from Luke Leahy clearing the ball of the line it remained 0-1.
A yellow card was shown in the 44th minute to Corey O’Keefe for a bad challenge but to the fans boos and hisses they thought otherwise.
Another booking was shown just before half-time to Ben Stevenson as he was seen to have hacked down Tom Bayliss as Shrewsbury were on the counter attack.
Second Half
Three minutes into the second half Tom Bayliss put through Jordan Shipley who slotted it away and past Luke McGee.
Some more substitutions came in the 58th minute as Regan Hendry came off for David Davis with Josh March also coming off and being replaced by debutant Bryan Fiabema.
Just under ten minutes later Shrewsbury made their first substitutions of the game as Rekeil Pyke and Ryan Bowman made way for Rob Street and Christian Saydee.
Not long after, a huge scuffle broke out between the two sides with Tom Bayliss and Luke McGee going into the book for it.
Two minutes after this a glorious opportunity arose for new signing Bryan Fiabema as a cross to him came in as he was unmarked was met by his head but whistled just past the back post.
Some more scuffles broke out as it seemed to be a Shrewsbury player had kicked out but no one was punished and play continued.
The last ten minutes were dull and very little chances or things happened and the full-time whistle blew and the score finished Forest Green 0-2 Shrewsbury Town.
