Premier League newcomers Brentford came from a goal down to beat Rovers 3-1 in the Carabao Cup.
Rob Edwards made five changes to the side from Saturday's entertaining victory over Crawley Town, freshening up the team with first-team talent from within the squad.
Jack Aitchison fired FGR into the lead early on after a defensive mix-up from the Bees.
But with several strong second half substitutions, Brentford equalised almost immediately through Yoane Wissa, before Bryan Mbeumo's header put them ahead and then Marcus Forss sealed the victory.
Thomas Frank's side would have been ahead two minutes before Rovers' opener, but a stunning double stop from Lewis Thomas kept out Mads Bidstrup and Halil Dervisoglu .
Brentford brought on Sergi Canos and summer signing Frank Onyeka at half-time and looked to up their intensity, but Edwards' side almost doubled their advantage as Regan Hendry shot wide.
As the half wore on, Brentford began to assert themselves, netting the equaliser through £8 million new-signing Wissa, who looked composed in the area - and fired beyond Thomas.
A real shining light in their promotion campaign, Bryan Mbuemo put the home side ahead shortly afterwards with stooping far-post header from Thompson's cross.
Finnish international Forss wrapped up the victory as he converted Canos' pull-back from the by-line to secure their place in the hat for Round Three.
